Sensei Jon Chitty

Rank : Yodan

Jon Chitty started to learn Shotokan karate at school during his A-level studies, but could not continue when he went to university as, then, it was just too expensive.

Decades later in the mid 1990s, during a tour at RAF Bruggen in Germany, he was asked if he could set up a karate club on the base; which he did with the help of Sensei Pete Brockers a 7th Dan Instructor based in Munchengladbach. After nearly 2 years of training Jon was then posted to RAF Wyton in late 1995. He was by then a 5th Kyu; and he joined the Central Federation of Traditional Shotokan (CFTS) club in St Neots under Sensei Bernard Coppen. He gained his 1st Dan (Shodan) in April 2001.

Jon continued his training under various Sensei instructors before transferring with the Club into the Central England Shotokan Karate Association (CESKA) under Sensei Pete Calver and Sensei Tom Shepherd in 2007. He eventually gained his 4th Dan (Yodan) in November 2012.Following various other changes Sensei Jon became the chief instructor of the Brampton karate club, still under CESKA at the time, in the spring of 2015. More recently the Club became part of Shotokan Karate Association International under Sensei Akita; and much is promised for its future.

Sensei Jon's favorite katas are Heian Nidan and Tekki Nidan; and his training techniques concentrate on the traditional Shotokan karate foundations.
